The Book of Acts — Summary

The book of Acts tells the story of the birth and expansion of the early church after the resurrection and ascension of Jesus. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, ordinary believers boldly proclaimed the Gospel, devoted themselves to God’s Word and prayer, lived in unity, and carried the message of Christ from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth. Acts reminds us that the same God who worked through the early church still works through His people today.

Application: Am I faithfully sharing the Gospel with unbelievers within my sphere of influence?

2. The Power of the Spirit

Throughout Acts, how do we see the Holy Spirit empowering, guiding, and strengthening believers for ministry and mission?

Observation: What examples in Acts show the difference between relying on God’s power versus human strength?

Application: Am I depending on the power of the Holy Spirit or relying primarily on my own strength and abilities?

3. Unity

Throughout Acts, how do we see the early church pursuing unity and caring for one another despite their differences?

Observation: What attitudes and actions helped preserve unity among the believers?

Application: Am I pursuing unity with other believers, or do I sometimes contribute to division through my attitudes, words, or actions?

4. The Word

Throughout Acts, how do we see the centrality of God’s Word in the life and growth of the church?

Observation: What role did the teaching, preaching, and study of Scripture play in the early church?

Application: Am I regularly reading and applying God’s Word to my life? Am I remaining faithful to the historic teachings of the Christian faith?

Throughout Acts, how do we see believers consistently turning to God in prayer both privately and corporately?

Observation: What happened when the early church prayed together?

Application: Am I faithful to pray both privately and corporately with other believers?
