Part 1 | Learning to Endure Suffering

Lessons for Living as Misfits | 1 Peter

Peter is writing to first century Gentile Christians, who live in very pagan communities. These believers are facing "various trials," and Peter encourages them to look ahead to their future inheritance and to put their hope in Christ. In this powerful message, you will learn how to deal with your own suffering in a God-glorifying way.

1 Peter is written to first-century believers who are dispersed throughout Roman Provinces across Asia Minor. Peter addresses these believers as "elect exiles" because they are citizens of heaven and feel as “strangers” or “misfits” in this world. In the post-Christian culture in which we now find ourselves, we are feeling increasingly like misfits. We are in the world, but not of the world, and this can be quite frustrating at times. Throughout 1 Peter, we will see many practical, relevant lessons for how to live in this world as a “misfit.”
