Part 3 | The Mark of Love

Lessons for Living as Misfits | 1 Peter

There are two marks on every believer that serve as evidence of sincere faith. One is the mark of holiness and the other is the mark of love. A Christian's love for other believers is the acid test of the genuineness of his our her faith.

1 Peter is written to first-century believers who are dispersed throughout Roman Provinces across Asia Minor. Peter addresses these believers as "elect exiles" because they are citizens of heaven and feel as “strangers” or “misfits” in this world. In the post-Christian culture in which we now find ourselves, we are feeling increasingly like misfits. We are in the world, but not of the world, and this can be quite frustrating at times. Throughout 1 Peter, we will see many practical, relevant lessons for how to live in this world as a “misfit.”
